Change Description in IE Title Bar

Post A Comment

This is a quick tip on how to change the "Microsoft Internet Explorer" description which has become so boring from your IE title bar.

It cannot be changed directly using any options, but you will have to edit your registry. Suspisicous users may backup their registry before modifying it. This edit will change the description to anything cool you want it to.

Microsoft Internet Explorer will by default show the title or name of the website displayed in the Internet Explorer window at the IE’s title bar. Then it’s followed by “- Microsoft Internet Explorer” or, in some cases, your company’s name or the name of the ISP that supplied the browser.

To get rid or remove or change the repeating additional title text in the IE’s title bar, use the following steps:

Click Start>Run> type in 'regedit' in the window that opens up.

Navigate to the following registry key:

             HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Double click the key named Window Title present in the right pane. If the key doesnt exist there,right-click in the right pane, then choose New>String Value>type in Window Title and press OK.

Double click the Window Title key. In the window that comes up, type in whatever you want to appear in your IE title bar or type in nothing if you want only the site address to appear.

Click OK. Close Registry Editor and any Internet Explorer’s windows.

Done! Now open another IE window and see the cool new Title bar description.
